Trip Overview

The Dhorpatan Trek is one of the least explored and most unique trekking routes in Nepal, offering a rare combination of wilderness, wildlife, high-altitude landscapes, and authentic rural culture. The region offers breathtaking scenery of peaks such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and surrounding western Himalayan ranges.

Dhorpatan is also rich in biodiversity, home to wildlife such as blue sheep, Himalayan tahr, musk deer, and various bird species, making it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.

Detailed Trek Route

The Dhorpatan Trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Beni or Baglung, followed by trekking through rural villages and forested hills.

The trail gradually ascends through traditional settlements and terraced farmlands before entering the remote Dhorpatan region. As trekkers move higher, the landscape becomes more rugged, with alpine meadows and wide valleys used by local herders.

The route passes through the core area of Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, where wildlife sightings are common. The trek offers peaceful surroundings far away from commercial trekking routes.

After exploring the reserve and surrounding viewpoints, the trail descends back through rural villages before returning to Kathmandu.
